WW2 1939-1945, Air Crew Europe Stars and BWM attributed to 1274307 Sgt Charles Ronald Pendelpho R.A.F.V.R. mint in Air Ministry box of issue addressed to Mrs D. Pendelpho, Fulham. Box with original condolence transmittal slip to Sergeant C.R. Pendelpho and 2 blue RAF medal issue slips.
He was killed in action on 7th December 1942 flying as the rear gunner in a Halifax bomber of 102 Sqn flying from Pocklington. The plane had been part of a raid on Mannheim and crashed into the sea off the Danish coast. The body of one of the crew, Sgt Sannholm was eventually washed ashore on the east coast of Denmark and he was buried in Frederikshaven Cemetery. The rest of the crew are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
Sold with copied Memorial Scroll to Sergeant C.R. Pendelpho Royal Air Force, Certificate of Qualifications showing he qualified as an Air Gunner 4/7/42, information on crew of Halifax W7911, telegram to spouse stating her husband was missing, CWGC and Airmen Died.
