A George III silver swing handled bread basket, maker probably John Mappin, Sheffield, 1777, of oval form, the beaded rim above a border of running 'C' scrolls above basket lattice and engraved swags and further beaded bands, the oval base engraved with a shield armorial, raised on an oval pieced plinth foot, the handle marked with a lion passant, base with scratch marks and L engraved, 750grams 24.1 ozs, 32.5cm long x 27cm wide.
