A Victorian silver box, hallmarked London 1897 by Spink & Son, sarcophagus shape, embossed with crest for The Worshipfull Company of Grocers with Camel finial to top, 10.2 x 5cm, 5.2 ozt / 164 grams.

The shield is Oundle school, Northampton which has been governed by The Worshipfull Company of Grocers since 1556- when Sir William Laxton, Lord Mayor of London and Master of The Worshipfull Company of Grocers endowed the "Free Grammar School", as he has been educated at the previously known Original Gild School founded in 1506. This box was a special commission to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and would have been given to senior members.

In good condition with light scratches and very minor tarnishing, number engraved to base.
