A SCARLET AND GILT JAPANNED CABINET, ITALY 19TH CENTURY, EX-CHRISTIE'S. The square form, two-door cabinet decorated to the exterior with Chinese figures and buildings with floral sprays. The interior panels and eleven drawers decorated with figures and floral sprays, enclosed with shelves in imitation of nashije lacquer. The table stand raised on cabriole legs featuring masks and floral sprays on scroll feet. 156cm tall total x 83cm wide table. Provenance: From a local Bath home purchased from Christie's London sale on November 5th 1970, with original sale catalogue noting further provenance; 'Originally the property of the Prince de Talleyrand-Perigord (1754-1838) and bequeathed by him to his nephew Duc Edmond de Talleyrand whose second wife was grandmother of the present owner'.
