A smokebox numberplate, 68972, from a LNER J50 Class 0-6-0T No 2789 built at Doncaster, Works No 1732, and entering traffic on 22 February 1930. Renumbered 8972 in 1946, becoming BR 68972. Its BR sheds were Annesley, Colwick, Hornsey and Doncaster from where it was withdrawn on 16 September 1962 and cut up at Doncaster Works. The front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
