Foiso Fois (Sardinian, 1916-1984), pastel, Study of a fisherman weaving a lobster pot, signed and dated 1951, 72 x 58cm. Condition - good The artist was born at Iglesias, on the island of Sardinia. He became Head of the Cagliari School of Art.
Passed down to the vendor by her late father, Eric Holder of Abbott and Holder then at 73 Castelnau, now in Museum Street.
Eric Holder worked in Sardinia eradicating malaria after WWII prior to becoming a fine art dealer. It is believed that he bought the picture from his friend Foiso Fois while in Sardinia.
