An original watercolour on paper painting copying a 14th century French ceramic in the Cathedral Museum Le Puy, France. Showing a medieval narrative scene of nobleman on horseback with entourage making his way to the city walls in the distance, engaging with confrontational locals prepared to do battle for their town. A densely composed piece with multiple figures overlaid upon each other. This was a medieval method of creating the illusion of depth. Signed to verso M. Champanhac with framer's sticker.
