A large Chinese painted pottery Hu jar, Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 8), with three raised bands of decoration surrounding its wide body, "taotie" mask handles, cold-painted in creamy-white and yellow-ochre pigments, 50cm high
Good overall condition for its age and size. There is some surface wear and signs of a repair to part of the base.
