Opera, initials crudely rubricated, late seventeenth century calf, 8vo, Lyon: Antonium Gryphium, 1572 PROVENANCE: Thomas Ruddiman (1674-1757), classical scholar, publisher and the Keeper of the Advocates Library, Edinburgh, between 1730-1752, with his bookplate. Alexander Boswell, Lord Auchinleck (1706-1782), judge, father of James Boswell, and Member of the Faculty of Advocates, with his ownership inscription, 1758. *Condition Report (i) title soiled, fore-edge shaved throughout, affecting marginal notes, occasional loss to running title due to mis-cropped leaves, some staining, a few leaves with early ink annotations. **BP 22.5% (inc. VAT) + a lot fee of £8 (inc. VAT) on each lot. VAT is not applicable on books and unframed maps.
