TEAKETTLE FOUNTAIN INKWELL. 2.6ins tall. Extremely rare, c. 1850, golden/ variating salt glaze. Upturned teacup form, 20 gadrooning ridges to the bell shaped sides, basal upper ring, sunflower to top. Two hanging pen rests applied to side (with concave reeded design), and front opening to the ink cavity. An example is illustrated in English Brown Stoneware by Oswald, Hildyard & Hughes (p147) plus one other recorded in a private collection. NR.
