Of historical cricketing interest - Edgar Willsher letters and related lithographs, 19th century. Comprising five interesting hand written letters, two written by Edgar Willsher and three by Lord Harris in correspondence with members of the Hilder family being cricketing associates in Kent. Also included are three hand coloured lithographs by John Corbet Anderson (1827-1907) published by F. Lillywhite & Wisden, London, circa 1857, with the central image depicting Edgar Willsher, each framed and glazed. The lithograph of
Edgar Willsher was later illustrated in Richard Daft's ‘Kings of Cricket’ published by J.W. Arrowsmith of London in 1893.
Edgar 'Ned' Willsher the English cricketeer and left handed fast bowler is known for being the catalyst in the transition from roundarm to overarm bowling having played first class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club (circa 1850 - 1875) having taken over one thousand three hundred first-class wickets during his professional career.
