Proposed in 1836 and also known as the City and Richmond Railway, the main line was to commence at Southwark Bridge and travel through Lambeth, Battersea, Chelsea and Hammersmith, the Richmond branch from Battersea, through Wandsworth, Putney and Mortlake.
