WW1 Royal Engineers Officer's Sword By Wilkinson


A good example of the 1897 Pattern 32 1/2 inch, dumbbell blade with central fuller.  Etched Kings crown royal coat of arms, Royal Engineers winged lightening bolts and foliage panels.  Forte with maker "Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London".  Back edge numbered "55813" (1918).  Nickel plated, foliage pierced guard with Kings crown GRV cypher.  Nickel plated, checkered backstrap.  Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding.  Contained in its brown leather field scabbard.  Complete with later, gilt cord sword knot.
