A .577" Snider Artillery carbine of the Berwick -on- Tweed Artillery Volunteers, 40" overall, barrel 21½" with 3 groove rifling and bayonet bar at the muzzle, the breech having ordnance proofs and inspector's marks (worn), government sale marks, and large letter "N", the breech block with Mark III locking latch; the line engraved lock marked with crowned "VR" and "1860 Tower" and with ordnance inspector's mark; walnut three quarter stock, the butt with government sale mark; brass mounts, the trigger guard with eyelet securing chain and snap cap, the butt plate tang engraved with "V" over "Bt.A.1" over "107"; with sling swivels and original steel ramrod.
