Badge. 47th (The Lancashire) Regiment of Foot Victorian Officer's shoulder belt plate circa 1838. Fine scarce gilt rectangular plate mounted with hobnail silver star bearing laurel sprays surmounted by Royal Crest. To the centre, surrounded by honour scrolls, a strap LANCASHIRE with XLVII centrally and Rose below. Two hooks and two studs. VGC. Served in the Crimea 1854-55, fought at Alma, Inkerman and Sevastopol. Became 2nd Battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on Friday 1st July, 1881.
