Model of HMS Amethyst (F116) - Yangtse River Incident 1949 A simplified model of HMS Amethyst - a modified Black Swan - class sloop of the Royal Navy built 1942 and modified to become a frigate after World War 2. The ship became involved in the Yangtse Incident on 20th April 1949 and was trapped there until 30th July 1949. Constructed of wood, length 95cm. Previously motorised - now requires attention, gun turrets and other small parts are placed inside the hull for safe-keeping. An interesting historical winter project.
