A Queens South African Medal to Private Skinner Scots Guards. Three bars, Cape Colony, Transvaal and Wittenbergen. Correctly impressed 2423 Pte J Skinner Scots GDS. Ghost dates. Condition VF. John Skinner was born in St Pancras, London in 1880. In civilian life, he was a fitter and a member of the 17th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers. He attested, aged 18 years and nine months, on October 14 1898 and joined the Scots Guards. Skinner saw active service in South Africa during the Boer War. The QSA and bars are confirmed; he is also entitled to the KSA. On the 26th of October 1902, he was transferred to the reserves. In 1910, he was granted a King's pardon after having made himself absent from the reserves.
