An 1803 field officer’s sword of a Welsh Regiment, curved, fullered blade 30”, marked J J Runkel, Solingen on backstrap, etched with fanciful Turks heads trophy and flourishes, gilt hilt, the guard with 3 loops on each side, into panelled stirrup knucklebow incorporating GR cypher and POWs feathers in oval, lions head pommel and facetted backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip. Blade retaining a little original blueing, but with several pitting patches, hilt retaining approx 60% gilt (knucklebow loose, tail of guard bent up)
