R.M.S. TITANIC/OLYMPIC: Henry Tingle Wilde (September 21st 1872 to April 15th 1912), Chief Officer R.M.S. Titanic.
Handwritten letter from Wilde, dated 27th February 1912.
'You will be surprised to hear we have had another accident, only not a very serious one, only I am afraid a very expensive one, we have lost one of the blades of our propellers and have only been able to come in at reduced speed.'
He then writes on page 3,
'It will be an expensive business for the company sending the ship all the way to Belfast to Dry Dock.' Ironically, this event was to have a knock on effect to Titanic, workers were moved to Olympic, so delaying Titanic's completion.
