An historic WWI 14ct. gold locket, being a commemoration of Lieutenant Wilbur Arnold John, Of Sussex yeomanry and 206 squadron R.A.F, engraved with regimental and squadron crests to the front and back, inside are four portrait miniatures, two photographic and two appear to be painted, inside the front cover an inscription "Left Valparaiso 1914 to join the territorial force, Wilbur, killed in air fight July 31st 1918", 5 x 4.2cm. Together with a silver locket, inscribed Wilbur, and containing two further portraits, his Goldsmiths and Silversmiths silver hip flask, London 1916, initialled, and further inscribed, and two German silver spoons, one inscribed Wilbur, the other Marie. The lot also includes printed details of his life, from his birth in Chile, to the circumstances of the discovery of his grave.
