Offa of Mercia as overlord of East Anglia, silver penny with portrait. Obv: Diademed bust right, branch before; legend: +OEFAREX, the 'E' looks intentional, the 'R' retrograde, followed by decorated 'box'. Rev: Legend: AETHRERD; much of legend retrograde, second 'R' upside down. This is presumably the moneyer Oethelred; the cataloguer knowing of only one other specimen, different dies (Spink Auction 227, 17-18 Dec. 2014, lot 478, found Nr. Barham, Kent).
