A mid 20thC brass cigarette box with straight sides and a hinged lid, enclosing a cedar lined interior, inscribed 'Albert Pierrepoint, Licensee : Help the Poor Struggler, 303 Manchester Road, Hollingwood, Manchester'  4.5"w who was a licensee of this pub from 1946 to 1951, though it was latterly removed with other personal property when the premises closed in the early 1990s. There is no provable provenance to indicate it was the property of the Britain's, most notorious and prolific 20thC hangman
