An early 19th century figured mahogany eight-day longcase clock. The 13-inch broken-arch white-painted dial below three gilt-metal spherical finials and a dentil cornice above two marquetry paterae; the dial decorated with a Battle of Trafalgar scene and surmounted with a shoulder-length portrait of Admiral Nelson; Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds-hand below the 12 o'clock position, date-hand above the 6 o'clock position; signed W. Colepitts - S. Shields. The finely figured and shaped boxwood-strung trunk door centred with a vertical marquetry conch shell and quadrant fleur-de-lys style marquetry spandrels. Figured mahogany box-base on ogee bracket feet. With weights and pendulum. (255 cm high)
Condition Report: Good overall condition with nice overall colour with only a few minor pieces of veneer away, appears to have holes drilled at the 8 and 4 o'clock position on the dial.
