£100 - £150
Attributed to William Hogarth FRSA (1697-1764) - Hungry Scul, half-length cartoon in profile, possibly a preparatory sketch, attributed mount, titled within the sheet, pencil drawing on paper, 11 x 8.4cm
The subject bears a similarity to the face of a gentleman in profile, within the engraved version of Hogarth's Rake's Progress, Plate 3: Tavern Scene (London, 1734), standing in the centre of the room.
A quick drawing full of animation. The sheet with old dirt and soiling in places, but the paper intact without any disintegration. Later mounted by a collector, the mount itself with attribution, numbering and dimensions. The whole hinge-mounted into a collector's window sleeve.
