Captured over 2 years of winter hikes in Bergen, Norway, these images reflect a landscape that shifts with the changing seasons, yet remains eternally captivating.
Between 2017 and 2019, each hike took me up the Floyfjellet, before the break of dawn, armed with nothing but a headlamp, crampons, and a camera. As I moved through the snow, the crisp air enveloped me - its purity both invigorating and calming - while the world around me lay still, waiting for the day to begin.
The winter in Norway is a painter’s palette of used beauty. Soft pinks and greys bleed with the deep, crisp blues of a sky caught in the early light. These delicate hues, so quiet and unassuming, hold the power to transform the landscape in an instant. The crunch of snow beneath my boots was the only sound, a steady rhythm against the backdrop of this serene, unspoilt environment. From the heights of Floyfjellet, I would watch as Bergen slowly came to life. The faint whisper of smoke rising from chimney’s, tiny headlights of cars gliding along roads, and the ferries crossing the fjords far below - each small detail adding to the larger tapestry of this peaceful, magical moment. The sky a constantly changing canvas, would shift from dusty purples to pale pinks to cool blues, casting a tranquil glow over the city and surrounding mountains.

These 3 images, each captured during those early morning hikes, speak to the timeless nature of Bergen’s winter.
They are a limited edition prints (2/50) carefully fried by Lilford Framers, Canterbury, Kent.

Each piece is a tribute to the beauty of the Norwegian landscape, and a reminder of the quiet moments that come from standing in the midst of it all- waiting for the world to wake
