A Cathcart Freezing Microtome, early 20th century, used to freeze and slice specimens for microscopy, the wooden body with brass fittings to hold an associated razor, 9.5cm W x 7cm D x 12.5cm H, with various accessories but possibly incomplete; with a collection of thirty six microscope slides, early 20th century and later, some prepared by W. Watson & Sons, M. Pillischer and H. H. Clarke, others amateur prepared with handwritten labels, the specimens to include young oysters, the eye of a house fly, and flower spikes of grape hyacinth, held in six compartmentalised trays to a fall front wooden case with six empty trays (some at fault) (2)
