An 18th century oak cased 8-day striking longcase clock by William Simms of Chipping Norton, the hood with dentil cornice above a plain frieze, the hand-painted dial with gilt spandrels and date aperture, flanked by plain pilasters, above a plain trunk, terminating on a stepped plinth base with shaped front apron. Dial measures 11”. Total height 6’8” (205cm).
H205cm W53cm D27cm (approx).
Condition report: Some crazing and paint loss to dial. A retaining bracket has been fitted to the back of the case. Includes both weights, brass bound pendulum, winding key and case key.
