Star Lot: A charming original antique watercolour on paper painting by the British artist Myles Birket Foster titled "The Market Cart" dating between 1850s-1899. The work is finely rendered in Foster's illustrative style and in excellent condition for its age. Contains his monogrammed signature bottom right. Housed in a newer gilt frame.

Artist M.Foster was popular during the Victorian period, achieving widespread success with both illustrations and watercolor paintings.Through his career as an artist, M. Foster counted leading members of the Pre-Raphaelite movement among his friends, and he was encouraged to expand his range and take up painting. Foster's artwork can be found today at the Courtauld Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Because of his popularity, the prices of Foster's artwork have increased at auction, with sales now in the thousands.
