1811 Early Golf Reference - Rare Edinburgh Evening Courant Bound Volume of newspapers from January 3 1811 to December 30 1811 with over 37 references to the Leith Links incl one of the cellars at Golf House of Leith being broken into and a hogs head of ale and another porter were taken; land to be let near Burntsfield Links; houses and gardens which leads to Musselburgh Links; Gold Medal and Silver Golf Club to be competed for by Edinburgh Society of Golfers; Gold Medal given by Leith Company of Golfers was won by William Oliphant; Golfing at St Andrews for the Silver Club; The Ball and Gold Medal events and followed by the results with the Gold Medal won by Dr James Hunter; letting of grass keep on Links of Leith et al - all of the above information will found on 4x A4 size typed pages - note the first page has a horizontal crease tear - hand written note to the front free end plate - with name and dates of the owner1869 and in 1883 given to The North Berwick Conservative Club Note: Part Three - Golf Collection from "David Easby Estate"
