The XJS was launched in 1975, and whilst the fabulous V12 engine could deliver outstanding performance, its thirst for petrol was legendary, which caused problems in the USA, where Jaguar were fined for publishing misleading figures. This promoted the first big change for the model, which was the new HE or High Efficiency engine in 1981. This combined with the much longer final drive, gave the XJS much better fuel economy, which was bearable.
An exceptional example of this Classic Touring Coupé, finished in Silversand, with Fawn leather interior. The current mileage is recorded as 86,433 miles. This is a one owner car, which has been carefully maintained by the original owner from new and has Full Service History. Improvements to the car include, the roof finished in beige vinyl with a tasteful coach-line, and has been totally resprayed in acrylic finish to match original cellulose paintwork. The air conditioning system has been fully overhauled.
Extras include, a very rare factory fitted electric sunroof, electric central locking, including boot lid and a top of the range 4 x speaker Sony stereo radio with 12 CD auto changer/player installed in the boot. Also has a 'Uniden' super-wide-band laser radar speed detector fitted and a Jaguar dust cover.
