** BRISTOL (STAPLETON) - P.O.W.s PETITION LETTER TO THE TRANSPORT OFFICE IN LONDON; Lengthy fine 25 Oct. 1809 EL (full contemporary? manuscript English translation) headed from "Des Prisons de Guerre de Stapleton" to the Transport Office in London (unsealed) with 35 POWs' names/signatures at the foot asking for their release as they had been captured in 1803 on 'Le Mars' which had been taking them - all badly wounded soldiers - back to France from Haiti.
