A rare Irish 18ct gold pocket watch by John Donegan number 19758 hallmarked Dublin 1881, the case is decorated with round towers, a harp and shamrocks, the inside case is engraved "Presented to Wm Field Esq MP by his Dublin Fellow Traders as a Token of the High Esteem in which he is held in & recognition of the many able & brilliant service he has rendered them August 1895". The watch is on an 18ct long bar chain. At the 1918 general election he was defeated by Constance Markievicz of Sinn Finn by more than two to one. Total weight of watch & chain approx. 208.7 grams (chain approx. 55 grams). length of chain 15.5 inches
