In 1977, Rolls-Royce introduced the Silver Shadow II in recognition of several major changes, most notably rack and pinion steering, and modifications to the front suspension, which improved handling dramatically. Externally, the bumpers were changed from chrome to alloy and rubber starting with the late 1976 Silver Shadows. These new energy absorbing bumpers had been used in the United States since 1974, as a response to tightening safety standards there. Nonetheless, the bumpers on cars sold outside of North America were still solidly mounted and protruded 2" less. Also, now made standard across the board, was the deletion of the small grilles mounted beneath the headlamps. A front skirt was fitted to the Silver Shadow II and its sister cars.

This Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is described by the vendor as a lovely example of its type. He states that it is solid and is beautiful to drive. The vehicle has a current MOT and from April next year it qualifies as a historic vehicle, so becomes MOT and road tax exempt. It comes with a large file full of history, including a full list of previous keepers from DVLA and a wallet containing all manuals.

A large amount of invoices document the restoration on the vehicle, which includes new floor pans, new wheel arches, and the vehicle being repainted in Georgian Silver. New carpets complement the interior, with the leather in Magnolia. The car has both front and rear headrests. Further invoices document a stainless steel exhaust, four new tyres, steering rack, rear hubs, new brake pads, new brake accumulator valve bodies along with an invoice for brake accumulator spheres dated 21/09/20.

The vendor states that the vehicle starts on the button, the gears are smooth, and the brakes are superb. As with any vehicle of this age, there are some cosmetic blemishes, but it presents well. Some minor electrical items would benefit from attention, i.e. the cruise control doesn’t work, but that has never bothered the vendor. All in all a fantastic car that is MOT’d and ready to be driven and enjoyed at a very low reserve.
