1696 King William III silver Crown with third bust and 'OCTAVO' to the edge (S 3472, Bull 1004). Obverse: right-facing laureate portrait with straight breastplate and drapery, 'GVLILMVS · III · DEI · GRA ·'. Reverse: lion of Nassau in a cartouche with nine billets around at the centre, four crowned shields of royal arms, arranged cruciform. The shields represent England, Scotland, France and Ireland with the Irish harp displaying seven strings. Edge: raised lettering reading 'DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI OCTAVO'. Weight: 29.59g.
