An impressive 19th century French Dieppe bone carved mirror, possibly made by a prisoner of war, the bevelled oval plate within a shaped surround applied with carved feathers, angels, lions and coats of arms and with the inscription Polonia, 86cm by 55cm. [Likely carved in Dieppe and probably dates to the third quarter of the 19th century. Similar examples can be found: Christopher Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, London, 1981, p. 141, pls. 351 and 352]
