German Imperial Kaiserliche Marine 1890 Officer cadet's sidearm. A good rare example. Ribbed brass hilt, the integral brass crossguard bearing Imperial crown with fixed fouled anchor shell guard. The reverse of the hilt with clear Crown over M 1890 II W.D. 88 stamp, this is in part repeated to the top mount of the scabbard. The straight 43 cm blade etched with sailing ship trophies of war and crowned fouled anchor. Housed in its leather scabbard with brass gilt mounts and frog stud, the chape gilt is worn to the base steel. Blade near VGC.
