GIORGIO DE CHIRICO. Two autographed letters concerning reproduction of a work on television, 1961 and associated correspondence (11). Giorgio de Chirico. Two autographed letters signed to Hermione Hobhouse, declining permission for Granada Television to broadcast images of 'L'enigme de l'heure', the first, 1p., dated 7 October 1961, offering alternatives, 'I prefer if you reproduce in your television programs one painting metaphysical of mine (sic) collection', and the second, 2pp., dated 18th October 1961, providing more detailed reasons, 'I would rather see reproduced a painting belonging to my own collection' and enquiring after the reason for the confusion, 'I should be grateful if you would return to me my letter which you have so interpreted', but also offering further assistance, 'I would, naturally, be only too pleased to be of assistance to you and shall be happy to send you a photograph or a hectachrom (sic) of one of my paintings, should you so desire', together with a telegraph from de Chirico, dated 18th October, 16.42, declining consent, and 8 TLS or typed copies detailing the the pursuit of consent (11). *Condition Report A few minor tears, some with single fold. **BP 22.5% (inc.
