A spectacular large (55.5 carats) vivid teal coloured GRANDIDIERITE, round cut with excellent colour uniformity and no cracks, fissures, inclusions or other issues. Dimensions: 27.6 x 27.6 x 14 mm, Origin unknown.
Grandidierite was first discovered in 1902 by French explorer Alfred Grandidier in South Madagascar. As it is extremely rare and the third most expensive gemstone in the world ($20,000-30,000 per carat!), we understand this specimen to be lab-created.
