Fossil Curiosity: Dinosaur Gastrolith
A gastrolith, also called a stomach stone or gizzard stone, is a rock swallowed by an animal to aid in the digestion of food. Stones held within the stomach or gizzard act like a pestle and mortar, grinding up ingested food. This gastrolith having been used by a Sauropod Dinosaur during the Upper Cretaceous period around ~118 million years ago.
