Johannes Gill (18th Century) British. Portrait of Richard Clarke, Oil on canvas, Signed, and inscribed on a label verso, In a fine carved giltwood frame, 29.25" x 24.25" (74.3 x 61.6cm) and the companion piece, Mary Clarke, a pair (2). Notes: Richard Clarke was the son of Richard of Bridwel and Mary, daughter of Thomas Lee of Gulliford, Woodbury. He married Mary Clarke, the daughter of Lawrence Rowe of Spencecombe, Crediton at Clannaborough on 27th October 1748. He died 23th May 1774 aged 55 and was buried in Halberton Church. Mary died in 1778
