Georgian Carnelian stone intaglio. Circa 18th century AD. 5.87g. 25.46 mm. An oval intaglio within a gilt copper frame. The image depicted on the face is of a classical style female seated right and feeding a large bird. This image is seen on some ancient Greek seals where they describe it as, a woman feeding a Heron. Its likely this seal is imitating those earlier pieces and may be a souvenir from a grand tour.
