Good Boer War Pattern 1885 Cavalry Trooper's Sword dated 1886, with 34 ½ in. slightly curved single-edged nickelled steel blade, fullered on each side, ricasso marked with Broad Arrow over ‘WD’, ‘YC’, Solingen inspection mark and bend test ‘X’, with various inspection marks, issue dates and ‘WEYERSBERG / KIRSCHBAUM / SOLINGEN’ over, further inspection marks to blade and hilt backs, nickelled steel guard with Maltese Cross piercing and unit stampings including ‘L & B’ for Lothians and Berwickshire Yeomanry Cavalry, black leather chequered grips, together with its steel scabbard with two suspension rings, 41 ½ in. overall.
