The Jaguar XJS is a luxury Grand Tourer that was produced from 1975 to 1996, and was based on the XJ Saloon. It offers its owners a slice of motoring history, defying critics to become one of the world's most successful GT cars. It was very different in character from its predecessor, and though it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJ-S was a competent grand tourer, and more aerodynamic than the E-Type. The HE engine was introduced in 1982, the 3.6 AJ6 engine in 1984, which was expanded to four litres in 1989. A Cabriolet was released in 1985, a full convertible in 1988 and the face-lift model in 1993. From the first car in 1975, to the final commemorative model in 1995, the XJS was continuously developed during its 20 year production life.
The vendor purchased this car in May 1993. He used it until 1999, when it was put in his garage and only started and moved backwards and forwards, to keep everything nice and free. The car was MOT'd in January this year and went straight through the test without any work needing to be done, and only a small number of advisories. The car drives well, the hood etc. all work as they should, and with a small amount of work the car will be ready for the summer. Outstanding value.
