* The original mount bore the date July 1788 and was inscribed `View on The Wye below the New Weir, continueing the Navigation towards Monmouth. At this place another, and most interesting Scene succeeds. Here the Stream of the Wye, recover'd from its recent agitation at the New Wear, continues its pellucid course, gliding past a Fisherman's Cottage, Enviably Secluded`
