A very fine and large landscape scene of cattle in a river, with a village in the far distance, signed and date 1887 to lower right, inscribed to verso 'T S Cooper No, 1258', oil on canvas, relined, 101 x 50cm, mounted in a fine gilt gesso frame.
Note: Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803–1902) was an English painter, best known for his realistic and detailed depictions of farm animals like cows, horses, and sheep. A leading animal painter in the Victorian era, he captured rural life with a blend of realism and idealism.
