No. 1 Display 8 Foot Bimbo, The Giant Clown - Pelham Puppets Display Range, the large composite head painted as a comic face on a white ground, lifting eyelids revealing green eyes, prominent red nose, curling sprigs of ginger hair, opening bottom jaw, the frame of the torso stuffed over, large white composite hands as stylized gloves, humorously large wooden black shoes, the joints connecting in a series of strung turnings, red and white neckerchief, black frock coat, mustard yellow waistcoat, geometrically checked black and white trousers, the legs padded in abstract design stockings, 205cm high, c. 1953 Bob Pelham's amusement in clowns lead to a great many being produced by Pelham Puppets, however this greater than life model of Bimbo the Clown dominated the face of the company for decades. Displayed at Harrods during Christmas 1953, then the British Industries Fair in 1994, demand soon grew for more Bimbos (though for somewhat smaller puppets). After roaring success Bimbo was to be found entertaining children being displayed in the entrance at Pelham Puppet's factory in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
