Captain Robert Arnold Barker MC was mortally wounded by sniper fire at Neuvilly on October 13th 1918 and died at Montigny later the same day aged 24. The London Gazette of 26th July 1918 records the award of the Military Cross to 'Temporary Lieutenant' Barker 'for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty', going on to say 'he took charge of a company, when the company commander was killed, and successfully repelled three attacks, handling his men with great courage and determination. His work at all times was praise worthy'
