Victorian brass-inlaid coromandel dressing case, the cut glass fittings with silver tops - some in sprung wells, Thomas Whitehouse, London 1866, surrounding a tray of mother-of pearl-handled implements, the lid with morocco leather stationery pockets enclosed by detachable mirror, concealed fall front enclosing leather-lined drawer and spring-loaded secret bijouterie drawer with cream watered silk lining, 34.5cm wide.  Retailed by Joseph Mayer of Liverpool (note: Mayer was an avid collector as well as retailer and his collection was bequeathed to Liverpool Museum)
