APPLICATION OF UPP: 1837-1840 Es & ELs on display pages showing the application and variation of UPP inc. 2nd day of UPP to Edinburgh with a v. fine red Dundee "1" hs adjacent to a red boxed "PAID at/DUNDEE" & red Edinburgh "PAID/JAN 12 M/1840" cds on front and boxed "DUNDEE/JA 11 E/1840" on back; 2nd day of UPP E ex Riga to Aberdeen with a wealth of Prussian postal markings arriving in London 11 Jan. charged "1/10(d)" (inc. 2d inland postage for an unpaid letter); EL ex Inverness prepaid 1d unusually with black "1" hs; EL to Charlestown with small red-brown "1" hs (possibly adapted from a receiving house stamp) adjacent to "KIRCALDY/28 MAR/1840" ds; EL to Perth with a red "1" hs of Newburgh deleted and replaced by ms "2". Also a 1d Mulready stereo A177 ex Glasgow to Edinburgh with faint but fine red MX. All in fine condition. (9)Cross Reference: SCOTLAND
