Edwin Henry Landseer (1802-1873), Oil on canvas, A Scottish Deerhound near the river, Scotland. Thought to be Maida, Sir Walter Scott's deerhound, therefore probably the River Tweed. Signed to the red collar. 20 1/4 x 24'' Edwin Landseer was a close friend of Sír Walter Scott. Scott was a keen dog lover an is immortalised in a statue with Maida at the Scott Monument, Edinburgh.
